Concerts Connect is live-streaming a series of concerts in support of South African music societies and concert series. The broadcasts will be presented by BR Concerts and are underpinned by a strong focus on connectivity.
The Concerts Connect live-stream concert platforms aim to unite music societies with audiences and artists in a time of great disconnect.
Three concerts
Concerts Connect will kick-off with a series of three concerts featuring local pianists Nina Schumann and Luis Magalhães, as well as German violinist Alissa Margulis.
The first concert will be broadcast live from the Lourensford Estate Manor House on Sunday, 24 May, 2020, at 4pm. Alissa Margulis (violin) and Luis Magalhaes (piano) will present a programme featuring the Beethoven Spring sonata and other works by Dvorak, Kreisler, Schumann, Brahms, Paradis and Saint-Saëns.
Nina Schumann will present an eclectic program of sketches by Bach, Haydn, Debussy and Rachmaninoff on Sunday, 14 June, 2020 at 4pm.
The third concert will be presented on Sunday 5 July, 2020 at 4pm. The piano duo TwoPianists will present a varied programme including Chopin’s Sonata No. 2.
With the possibility to connect audiences directly with music societies through customised ticketing and live-stream platforms, societies are able to continue presenting world-class performances to their existing patrons, but also offers the possibility to grow their audience base across geographic boundaries. In doing so, they are able to continue playing their vital role in the South African classical music scene.
Concerts Connect tickets are available on Quicket and can be bought in support of any of the participating partners.
